Black standing seam
The modern farmhouse roof. Crisp against white walls, works with black windows and a black front door, and it is what most buyers picture when they hear the word farmhouse. On a genuinely old farmhouse it can look like a renovation that went too far.
Charcoal and dark grey
Charcoal gives most of the black look with less heat and less glare. It also hides dust and pollen better, which matters on a gravel road.
Galvalume
Plain unpainted metal is the original farmhouse roof and it is cheaper than a painted panel. It looks right on a working farm and on a rural house with a porch. It looks wrong on a new build in a subdivision.
Green

Red and burgundy
A red metal roof on a white farmhouse is a barn reference and it works on a real farm. In town it is a lot. Burgundy and rustic red are softer versions.
Bronze and brown
Bronze is the warm alternative to black. It suits a farmhouse with wood accents, a tan or cream paint, or stone at the base. It is also the safest choice if you are not sure.
